United Concordia: Chomper Chums

Usability and Evaluation of Design

squiggle.png

My Role:

I performed usability tests on this app, which was designed by a project team at Red Privet. [a.k.a I got to brush my teeth in the bathroom with a bunch of adorable kids while using this app!] View the Red Privet case study.

The Client:

United Concordia is a dental insurance company who wanted to increase engagement and promote dental wellness to their consumers.

The Result:

United Concordia created an engaging toothbrush timer app, which gamifies the education and habit formation of teeth brushing in children.

Usability Test Plan

I created a test plan to determine if the mobile app was meeting the client's and user's goals and needs. We also tested to make sure the interactions were user friendly for children. Kids are surprisingly great at many of the modern interaction styles.

Usability Testing

This was my all-time favorite usability test. I spent two days brushing my teeth with kids as they used this mobile app. Testing with children is a lot different than usability testing with adults. Read my blog post on it.

A little extra...

I designed a promotional site in order to submit the application for an award. It won!
